Ophelia, her love for Hamlet


            Singing songs about her lost loved one and her dead father, a young girl has gone mad. I n the beginning of the tragedy Hamlet by William Shakespeare, Ophelia has devoted her love to the Prince of Denmark. The intelligent and kind Ophelia, however, betrays her father, and later collapses into insanity and kills herself.
             When Ophelia's father ask about Hamlet she tells him the Hamlet has made many offers of his affection, she describes his love as honorable. She shows obvious love for her brother and father as well because they are looking out for her. She never shows any anger or hatred towards either of them. She loves her father in fear that she will lose him one day, and once she does, she loses a part of herself. This explains how Ophelia is kind and loving.
             Ophelia is very obedient, she has very good manners, when her father and brother tell her to do something she doesn't hesitate, and she does it. .
             "Lord Hamlet, Believe so much in him, that he is young .
             Do not believe his vows, for they are broker, Have you.
             so slander any moment leisure As give words or talk with.
             the Lord Hamlet. Look to't I charge you. Come your ways".
             (Act I, scene 3, line 87-135).
             Ophelia being obedient says, "I shall obey my Lord." She does what her father asks her out of respect for him. He tells her to not see or speak to Hamlet and she obeys his wish.
             Ophelia stops talking to Hamlet to obey her father but yet she does give into Hamlet's games when he asks her if he could lay his head in her lap. " Ay, my Lord" (Act III, scene 2, line 118-120). Just comes to show you how disloyal she is in her promise towards her father. Ophelia is very deceitful towards Hamlet because Polonius and King Claudius sets up something for Ophelia to return all of Hamlet's gifts to see if he is really crazy or if he is just acting.
             " My Lord, I have remembrances of yours That I have longed.
             long to redeliver, I pray you now receive them- .
