Many people don't consider themselves lucky for the lives that they lead. People should really be thankful that they are not being segregated by their race or religion. Don't get me wrong, it's still happening today, only their groups aren't being killed by the thousands. Holocaust - meaning; great destruction of life, especially by fire was an extermination method used by the German Nazis. You may think this is outrageous and ask yourself if you really know -What happened during the Holocaust?.
In 1938 the attacks on Jews truly began. Nazis destroyed Jewish shops, houses, and synagogues. Then the Jew's were arrested. Of course the Jew's were fleeing to get away from this pure evil. Through 1933 - 1937 130,000 Jews left Germany to Palestine, Latin American and the US. President Roosevelt tried to take action at the Evian Conference, only to have the attempt to control the amount of Jewish refugees fail. .
In 1939 Poland brought 2 million Jews to the German government. Over 350,000 Jews were "captured" in 3% of Warsaw. The walls in the Warsaw ghetto were toped with barbed wire, and watched with guards. During the invasion of the Soviet Union, Hitler ordered the Einsatzgruppen (mobile killing units) to eliminate Communist political leaders and Jews. Government officials met at the Wannsee Conference outside Berlin to have a plan recognized called the "final solution to the Jewish question". This so called plan was, we should establish the number of concentration camps in rural areas of Germany, and there genocide (deliberate destruction of Europe's Jewish pop.) would be carried out.
In 1941 Nazis began testing different ways to kill people, and what would work best. They ended up picking poison gas (Zyklon B). They would release the gas in chambers disguised as showers. On the first day it killed 2,300 Jews. They created death camps, there were 6 in Poland. After the prisoners would arrive by train, they would line up and be inspected.
