The Conflict Within

             The Conflict Within.
Everybody wishes they could change something about themselves. Many people do actually change the way they look. That was not an option for Cyrano de Bergerac. His nose is huge. No, it isn't huge. It is colossal. He wishes he could do something about it, but he can't. While setting the Guinness record for having the biggest nose, he makes up for it with his swordplay and poetry. He is so skillful with the sword that he can improvise poems while he fights. Yet still, he wishes to be attractive.
Everyone knows not to mention the word nose around Cyrano. If it is mentioned on accident Cyrano is gracious and does not kill the fool who has said it. If mentioned on purpose. If mention as criticism, the idiot might as well already be dead. .
Cyrano faces a conflict between his pride, and his word. He has always been a man of his word, but he is still very proud. When Christian ridicules him because of his nose, he is ready to kill him. All of the cadets are present and are wondering what this new guy is thinking. Cyrano is ready to kill him, but then finds out who it is. He has promised Roxanne, the girl he loves, that he will protect Christian. Now here sits the man he is to protect, and he is ridiculing him. Why not kill him? He does it to the others who criticize him. Plus the results of Christian's death would benefit him greatly. .
