Competetion is Ultimately More Beneficial to Socity Than Det

The Statement "Competition is ultimately more beneficial than detrimental to society. While in today's era of science and technology, competition is viewed by many as detrimental to the society, it is competition that is ultimately sustaining mankind, not just sustaining but pushing man to higher planes of excellence. It is on these lines that I would be presenting my views in the following paragraphs.
Life is an endless journey of competitions-right from our conception to our last breath it is. Today we are here as a result of one sperm of our father, which excelled over millions of other sperms to reach the mother's egg. As Darwin rightly postulated -It is the survival of the fittest.
It is this innate rule of nature-that drives us forwards in our quest. Imagine a society where there is no competition, everyone would be resigned to what they have, which on one hand leads to self sustenance and contentment but on the other leads to overindulgence, lethargy, undue self satisfaction and ultimately to the downfall of that society. History is replete with such examples, great civilisations that decayed to nothing due to absence of competition-the Indus valley civilization in India. Today all nations are surviving, not just surviving but progressing only because of the global competition in all fields of life. A very striking example would be Japan, which emerged as a technology giant due to fierce competition with the west. At a much smaller level of things, it is because of competition that business is able to survive. Although it is true that competition has led to businessmen to adopt unscrupulous means to outwit their competetitors, the spirit of competition among businessmen ultimately benefits the society, as the consumer now gets better quality and cheaper goods. If business enterprises were monopolies, there would be no competition and there would be no interest on the part of the entrepreneur to improve his standard or quantity of products.
