Postmoderism

In an era where post-modernism is often talked and practiced, one needs to fully understand the meaning of the word. Finding the definition of postmodernism, one can find it as: art and literature and especially architecture in reaction against principles and practices of established modernism. Reading this definition and understanding the definition, one does not become convinced that postmodernism is exactly to the advantage of society. The definition clearly states that postmodernism defies the principles and practices that have brought us to the current era with our current technology and way of thinking. Reading this definition, one may ask is postmodernism for the better or for the worse of society? In several articles I have found, the topic of postmodernism is greatly discussed by those who are for postmodernism and those who are not. Often the comparison of interest is the discussion of whether or not postmodernism is the better of society or whether it is the opposite. All the articles that I have found for this topic come from the discussion within university professors because of postmodernism being apparent not only in the art world but in other aspects of professionalism. The authors that I have chosen to take important viewpoints are Dr. Raymie E. McKerrow, and Phil Dowe both whom are University professors. .
The definition of postmodernism is: art and literature and especially architecture in reaction against principles and practices of established modernism. Reading the first article written my Dr. Raymie E. McKerrow, one paragraph struck me with great interest. Dr. McKerrow wrote:.
"Stemming from the Enlightenment forward, there was a sense of dynamism involved in our movement toward answers to fundamental questions. Progress was based on a discounting of old traditional ways of handling problems, with a firm sense that reason was the ground from which freedom would arise.
