MDMA is a synthetic, psychoactive drug with both stimulant and hallucinogenic properties. It is usually taken orally in pill form, each pill containing 60- 250 mg, but it can also be snorted or suposited into the colon. It works by sending the bodies naturally produced supply of the chemical serotonin into the neurons. The system of serotonin works by regulating, mood, aggression, sexual activeness, sleep and sensitivity to pain. The initial effects, which can be experienced before taking the pill, are restlessness, nervousness, nausea, increased bowel movements, shivering, and tremor. The side effects of Ecstasy are appetite loss, stimulation, mild jaw clenching, nystagmus, which is an occasional lateral eye wiggle and mild to moderate post session fatigue. The psychological side effects of using this are confusion, depression anxiety, insomnia, paranoia and lower levels of memory retention. This is due to lack of serotonin in the brain and over stimulation of the brain's neurons from the previous evenings escapades. These effects will continue until the body rests and naturally restores its levels of serotonin. The herb 5-HTP can be used to help decrease side affects by stimulating the production and increasing the level of serotonin in the brain. .
MDMA is a stimulant and should not be used if you have any of the following; heart ailments, glaucoma, hypertension, stroke history, hepatic or renal disorders, diabetes or hypoglycemia. MDMA should be used in a time frame of two to three weeks or more in between doses. This is a reasonable recreational time frame. If taken two days in a row the negative effects of the drug will double. MDMA is not addictive per say. It has been proven that MDMA is not physically or psychologically addictive. The people who use it quite frequently just enjoy the experience and they don't know how to recreate it in a conscious effort. Presently there isn't any data indicating that recreational doses of MDMA permanently damage the brain.
