Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley, is a book about a man named Victor Frankenstein. The story tells of how Victor became a scientist, and how his longing to make new scientific discoveries brought him to tough decisions, and to consequences of them.
Victor Frankenstein grew up in a town called Geneva. His family consisted of his father, mother, and his brother William. His only real friends in Geneva, were: his best friend Henry Clerval, Clerval's girlfriend Justine, and Victor's girlfriend Elizabeth. Victor had never really been too interested in being a scientist, until two things happened. The first thing that happened, was that he saw a tree set on fire, by a bolt of lightning, and the tree was split in half. He realized the power of electricity, and wanted to learn further about it. The second thing was the death of his mother, from scarlet fever. These two things made him want to study science, and develop new things in the scientific field. Victor then decided to move to Ingolstadt, and study at the University of Ingolstadt. He made great progress, and decided to further science, by bringing something that was dead, and giving it life. Victor was so scared by the incident, that he left the laboratory. The next day, he saw his best friend Clerval, and He and Clerval talked, and Clerval told Victor that he came to take Victor home with him, because the family missed him. Victor did not decide to go home, until he received a letter from his Father telling him that his younger brother William was murdered. Victor found out that the monster he had created is what killed his brother, but Clerval's girlfriend Justine, was blamed for the murder, and was hanged for it.
