Haile Selassie


            
             This was a movie that was about Emperor Haile Selassie and how his follower and other people felt about him. It showed different Rastafarians around the world and how they felt about Haile Selassie. When the movie first started it said that Haile Selassie would be 100 if he were still living today. Haile was a hero to Africa but a God to most. Most of Haile Selassie followers felt that he is not dead and that he is their god. Haile Selassie died in 1974; Rastafarians believe that he is still alive today. They believe that their God will return to Earth and their God is Haile Selassie. Jah Rastafari is the Rastafarians symbol for god. Rastafarianism begins on a peace and love philosophy. Rastafarians all over the world have come to see his throne.
             Emperor Selassie was put into exile. After Haile Selassie was removed 60 of his high officials were executed. The day of Selassie's birthday, the families of the 60 officials came to a memorial service in Ethiopia, even the parts of their families in the United States attend the service. Africans from Jamaica and New York signed up to go and help fight for Haile Selassie. Haile Selassie's funeral was scheduled for July 16 but was rescheduled because the bones that were found were to long for a man of 5"4".
             Rastafarians all over still believe that Haile Selassie is still alive. There were a few people that gave their opinions on how they feel about Selassie and Rastafarianism. One that stood out the most was Noel Dyer. Noel Dyer spent a year trying to get back to Ethiopia. He said that he had a calling for him to go back to Ethiopia. On his journey to Ethiopia he had been put in jail a few times for smoking weed. Noel Dyer believes that weed puts him closer to God. Rev. Hillman believed that he survived 9 years of unemployment by the power of Haile Selassie. Mohnden Dillon Camera man of Haile Selassie for 8 years believed that Selassie was killed and doesn't believe that he is still alive and thinks that Rasta's are dreaming.
