Needle Or Syringe?

            Needle or Syringe, What's the difference?.
             A major problem in today's society is the numbers of people who are addicted to drugs, one of the most addictive and debilitating being heroin. Hundreds of people die each year as a result overdosing on drugs that are not safe to use. There is also the problem of dirty needles being littered. These needles can carry deadly diseases such as AIDS and Hepatitis, therefore innocent people are put at risk if by chance, they make contact with a dirty needle. The government has now decided to take the initiative and open the "safe injecting rooms". .
             The first thing that needs to be addressed is the placement of these rooms. Which suburbs will they be in? Would you feel comfortable if one was opened around the corner from you? How would you react if you knew that people under the influence of these drugs were roaming the streets around your house? These are all questions that you need to ask yourself before you agree not knowing the consequences. The drugs also need to be sold and bought somewhere, drug dealers are going to flock to the immediate area of the rooms looking for people to sell to. It is said that the area will be policed heavily, isn't this a waste of precious police hours that could be spent stopping the drugs from actually being made?.
             There will have to be money to open and maintain the rooms, as well as people being needed to supervise. This is a waste of the taxpayers money, money that could be spent on creating a better community, not bringing it down. It is said that it is time for the community to accept that we have a problem and start to do something. But creating a place for illegal drugs to be used is not going to get people off the drugs or stop the next generation from becoming addicted. I think it is time for the government to take a stance and not take the easy way out.
             We also need to think in perspective, in the long run what will happen.
