Peace Keeper

With a break into the globalization era, Americans believe that global strength comes with a more powerful economy instead of the past, when military power was thought to be the key to world domination (American Opinion 1). .
             With the recent terrorist act on the World Trade Center, America has taken a stand against terrorist groups in foreign countries. "We will not stop until every terrorist group in the world has been stopped," proclaimed George W. Bush. This means that if America has to go on to foreign soil to stop terrorism then that is what it is going to take. Many Americans support the prevention and destruction of terrorists but most believe that U. S. troops should not be put on foreign soil (1). The only circumstance when Americans favor using U. S. ground troops on foreign soil is to stop terrorist actions. 74% of the public favors U. S. air strikes for thwarting terrorist training camps (3). As the Twenty-first century begins terrorism is breeding at an unstoppable rate and as terrorism increases in the world it is becoming the most important threat that the United States and the world will be facing: According to Secretary of State Madeleine Albright (U.S. Intervention Overseas!.
             1).
             Internationalism is a stronghold for America in foreign countries. Sixty-one percent of the public and ninety-six of American leaders support remains strong, as in past years, for an active overseas role for the United States. Half of the American public believe that today America is playing a more important role as a world leader than ten years ago and seventy-nine of the public and seventy-one percent of American leaders believe that ten years from now America will have an even greater role in the world than the do now (2).
             In the twenty-first century fifty-three percent of the public believes that there will be oven more bloodshed and violence than in the past century with forty percent of American leaders believing this as well (2).
