The Vernon Jones Story

In my opinion the most pivotal character in this story was Little Dee. The story is about a preacher by the name of Vernon Jones who is played by James Earl Jones. Vernon is an outspoken minister and a civil rights advocate with strong beliefs. The movie takes place in the 1950's in Alabama, a time when people like Vernon didn't exist. It depicts the life of Vernon Jones, the man who preceded Martin Luther King Jr. He was a pastor of a Montgomery, Alabama Baptist Church. He campaigned tirelessly for Civil Rights long before anyone else, and was truly a founder of the civil rights movement. Before leaving as pastor, Johns passed on his duties to Reverend King, who is surprisingly a very minor character in the story. .
James Earl Jones played the role of the Reverend Vernon Johns, as the leader of a black congregation in Montgomery in the early 1950s. Vernon was one of the earliest voices in the Civil Rights Movement. We saw early on in the movie how important Vernon's family was to him. It finally got to the point that what he said or did would influence his family. His ways began to influence Little Dee his favorite daughter in a sad but true sort of way. I feel Little Dee is clearly the most pivotal character because of the way she influenced Vernon Jones. We see Vernon Jones as a strong man, set in his ways, but we soon see he has a soft heart for his daughter Little Dee.
The plot behind the movie is the life of Vernon Jones, yet at the same time his life wouldn't be what it is without the influence of Little Dee. The events in Little Dee's life only made Vernon fight harder. Clearly making Little Dee the most pivotal character.
