Why College Speech Codes Should Not Be Used

.
First, if when implying that the telos of the argument is to not offend anybody at the university, and that this goal is what is right, then what is the veracity of this statement? Veracity is the truth or falsity of a proposition that is determined by a set of criteria that governs its type. There is no criteria that says a university must protect its students from getting their feelings hurt, since there is no such criteria and nothing proving the telos to be right, the statement's veracity must be false. Of course the arete, or means by which the purpose would be fulfilled, is implementing speech codes on campus. .
Second, the telos of the university clearly contradicts its arete of using speech codes on campus. If the goals of many colleges is to provide its students with an environment that encourages people to embrace new ideas with an open mind, promotes individuality, accepts self-expression, and prepares for thereal? world, then the policy of speech codes does not fulfill the telos of the university so much that it practically contradicts it. .
Why are speech codes morally wrong? First the cause of why speech codes were created needs to be addressed. Saying racist, sexist, discriminatory, or hateful speech is morally wrong because it hurts people's feelings, it is not an appropriate means (arete) by which would solve any kind of goal (telos), and really there is no point. Similarly, the assertion just made is an entirely opinionated one since what is considered morally wrong is solely determined by the individual's value system. Therefore, one cannot punish or reprimand another person based on opinion and value systems alone. What one person thinks is right, another thinks is wrong, and the person who thinks he is right is just as free to think so as the person who thinks he is wrong.
There are five premises for the argument against college speech codes and why speech codes are wrong: First, regulating college speech may violate the First Amendment of the constitution.
