Alcohol And Its Effects On Dissonance

These subjects (consisting of an ACA support group as well as more ACA college students) were later compared by Michael Apter and his group in 1993 to see if there was a difference in psychological distress, social support, and the standard of living among ACA's (Apter & Kerr,1991).
In an article published by Wester, Hall, and Bolen an experiment was tried.
to see if ACA's and traumatic experience groups had any similarities. Then, these two were compared with a control group consisting of people who have had past counseling dealing with a specific issue. The test also concentrated on the differences in Grade Point Averages of adults who had been exposed to traumatic events during childhood and ACA's. It was hypothesized that adults with childhood traumatic experience were more likely to encounter difficulties during childhood as well as later in life. The results found there was no difference between the Grade Point Averages and the hypothesis proved to be true (1994).
In 1994, M.S. Cornelius and his group suggested that alcohol dependence.
and depression act additively or synergistically, resulting in a disproportionate suicide risk among subjects with both disorders (Cornelius, M.S., Richardson G.A., Day, N.L., Cornelius, J.R., Geva, D. and Taylor, P.M.,1994). This was based on a study conducted in 1992, where Cornelius had compared the parental drinking among adolescents and adults to predict who had the highest drinking rate. Rates of binge drinking and heavy drinking were highest among the teenage group. The adults, on the other hand, had a significantly higher average daily volume of alcohol prior to pregnancy than adolescents, but the teenagers held the highest rate once they become pregnant (1994).
My final article is based on recent evidence supporting the assumption that cognitive dissonance is experienced as an unpleasant emotional state, and further evidence pertaining to the effects of drinking alcohol to relieve stress.
