CAD

AutoCAD is computer graphics software that is commonly used to make architectural and engineering drawings. This reference guide describes the general principles of working with AutoCAD and how they can be applied to all the leading CAD programs. Once completing this manual, a student will have the basic knowledge needed in operating the most common drafting programs.
             Problem.
Many companies require the basic knowledge of AutoCAD when hiring prospective drafters. With over 20 commonly used design programs on the market, one may become confused as to which programs they should learn. Because students are taught only a handful of drafting programs in college and have little time to explore outside the curriculum, they lack confidence in their abilities after graduating. With design programs becoming so elaborate and requiring references as well as experience, graduates can greatly benefit from having a basic knowledge of how design programs work, therefore, making them more employable. .
             Scope.
This manual will not only be used as a learning tool for the student, but also as a reference guide for the graduate. Because this manual will only cover the general design program functions, readers should not expect complete knowledge of CAD software. Most of the information in this manual was pulled from several CAD text as well as questionnaires from current graphics majors.
