Can Sex Wait

            
             For my assignment in English class I was told to watch a television show that involved social issues that concern me. The television show I watched was Dawson's Creek. While watching the show there came up an issued that concerns all teenagers. They started talk about sex before marriage. It was basically about a girl that really wanted Dawson to take her virginity but he but didn't want to do anything to hurt their friendship between one another.
             In the show Dawson the main character had a friend that was a girl that had a crush on him. She never told him she liked him but some how Dawson found out and confronted her. They started talking about the topic of sex. See Dawson was not a virgin and she was. The reason she was a virgin wasn't because she was too ugly but that she believed in abstinence before marriage. But she was wanting to experiment on Dawson and thought he was the one to take her virginity. Because this would be her first time she would like it to be perfect and with no regrets and with someone she really cares about. Now Dawson was faced with a very difficult decision on one hand he has the chance to get laid but on the other hand there is this real sweet girl that he would never want to hurt. .
             Since she was a friend of his he wouldn't feel comfortable having sex with her. He wouldn't want to do anything to mess up their friendship. He told her that if she wanted to lose her virginity that she should do it with someone she loved. In my opinion the way he dealt with this was in a very mature and effective way.
             Their was many ways in which this episode effected me. One way in which it effected me is that ill never look at my close friends that are girls the same anymore. The reason I wont look at them the same is because the girl in the show has liked him for a while but never got up enough nerve to tell him. So how am I supposed to know if my close friends that are girls like me as friends or is it something more.
