Cosmetology

            Cosmetology is a good career for anyone interested in working with hair or nails. Some cosmetologists might massage and treat the scalp. Many people benefit by looking good. Looking good makes people feel a lot better about themselves. I think that I might enjoy making people feel good about themselves. Cosmetologists know a lot about which styles are in fashion. A cosmetologist provides a variety of beauty services to their clients. Duties include shampooing, cutting, coloring, and styling hair.
             One duty of a cosmetologist would include cutting, trimming and shaping hair to fit the style the client requests. When a cosmetologist is cutting someone's hair they usually use scissors, clippers, trimmers and razors. Coloring the hair is another duty of a cosmetologist. Cosmetologists apply bleaches, dyes, highlights or tints as the client requests. Another duty would be to clean, shape and polish fingernails. They need to know what tools and products to use and how to use them on their clients. These are just some of the duties of a cosmetologist. An education is required to learn how to perform all the duties. .
             Being able to speak to the clients is an important aptitude for a cosmetologist. They must be able to communicate so that they will know what the client wants done and can decide how to go about it. Eye-hand coordination is important so they can cut and style the hair. It is also important when giving someone a manicure or pedicure and applying polish. Being an active listener is important when cosmetologists wait on customers and listen to their wishes. It is important for the cosmetologist to work with the client. These aptitudes are very important. Having good relationships with clients is good for business.
             Education requirements for cosmetologists vary. Besides a high school education, a person must have graduated from a state-licensed barber or cosmetology school.
