            Judaism, Hinduism, and Buddhism have many differences in there beliefs and also many similarities. The 3 are the main 3 religions until the spread of Christianity. Hinduism and Buddhism are vary similar but have some distinct differences. .
             The Hebrews were one of the many people who lived in the fertile crescent of Mesopotamia. Over time they developed there own ideas which reflected a mix of many traditions. The Hebrews recorded events and laws in the Torah. Around 2000 B.C. they migrated to Palestine but famine forced them to leave to Egypt were they were enslaved. Mosses led the Hebrews to freedom from Egypt. They wondered for 40 years and then entered Palestine and believed they were the chosen people. By 1000 B.C. the Hebrews set up a kingdom of Israel. .
             The Hebrew beliefs evolved into the religion of Judaism. They are monotheistic and believe in 1 true god and were the first people to do this. The Jewish people also believe that Abraham made a covenant with god and they are the chosen people. The Ten Commandments are a set of laws the Jews believe that god gave them through Moses. The Torah also set rules or guidelines on cleanliness and food preparation. Some laws protect women, for example in the Ten Commandments respect for mothers is a basic law. Prophets emerged as spiritual leaders to interpret gods will. They preached a strong code of ethics of moral standards and behavior. .
             Gautama Buddha was a prince and his mother dreamed of a white elephant. That means your son will be a prophet. So Buddha's father kept him in the palace. One day he left the palace and saw a dead man a sick man and a old man. This human suffering disturbed him and set out to find "the realm of life were there is no suffering nor death." He wondered seeking answers from Hindu scholars and holy men. Eventually he meditated for 48 days until he understood the mystery of life. He suddenly believed he understood the cause and cure for suffering.
