Epiphany Moment

An epiphany is a sudden manifestation or an intuitive grasp of reality through something usually simple and striking. Epiphany experiences are universal which everyone experiences. When someone has an epiphany experience it changes their life and the way they think. An example of an epiphany experience would be when a child finds out there is no Santa Claus. When finding out there is no Santa Claus changes the way a child looks at the world. A child then figure out that there is no Easter bunny or tooth fairy. They realize that they are only fictional characters. On September 11th 2001, I experienced an epiphany moment.
On the morning of September 11th 2001 my life and my views on the United States changed greatly. It was an unexpected and horrible tragedy that will never be forgotten by my country or me. After getting ready for my ten 0" clock class I had time to spare so I decided to watch television and eat breakfast. When I turned on the television all I saw was news alerts. I flipped through the channels ignoring the news alerts when I discovered that the news alerts were on every single channel. I knew they did not broadcast unimportant news on every channel. I knew something bad had happened. I picked a channel and began to watch. I had learned that two planes had crashed into both of the World Trade Center towers, symbols of our financial power. I saw images flashing across the television screen: desperate people running for their lives; rescue workers looking through the rubble; family members looking for loved ones. However, passing images on a thirty-five inch television screen can never do justice to the sight of two one hundred and ten story buildings crumbling to the ground or the knowledge of thousands of innocent lives had been taken. At first I was thinking unclearly, "how could two planes crashed into two buildings?" I flipped through the channels again to avoid watching desperate people jumping from the buildings.
