Affrimative Action

With this argument the black kid is treated unfairly while the white kid is given a perfect education.
Some of the blacks that continue on with their education or career feel that they are qualified for their job. They receive preferential treatment which makes ignorant people think that the only reason they are in the position they are in is because of affirmative action.
As a white male I am somewhat against affirmative action, not just for the reason Murray uses but for the reason it is reverse discrimination. In our country, we see a lot of racism and unfair treatment of different ethnic groups. But, none of the unfair treatment to certain ethnic groups is legal; this is.
Since none of the unfair treatment to an ethnic group is legal, why should unfair treatment to white males be legal? This deals with the Compensation Argument and is a backward looking argument. The question of past discrimination is one that is not valid in my mind. It seeks to punish the present people for things they had no control over.
The forward-looking argument is not a legitimate one either. No one should receive unfair treatment because of his or her color or financial background. Granted, some people have it easier than others, but that should give someone that is a minority incentive to work harder. I am a human being that plays the cards I am dealt. Some hands are much better than others, but don't punish those who have a good hand. Help those with a bad one; don't just let them win the game.
I totally see why minorities would want to have affirmative action programs. Everyone in the world would like to have a program where it gives them the advantage over everyone else. The only problem is that there should be no law that discriminates against any innocent person trying hard to succeed. The Civil Rights Act gave everyone an equal opportunity. I don't feel that it is wrong to try and give people an opportunity, but don't strip away someone else's chance to succeed as well.
