Holes

In Holes written by Luis Sachar a boy named Stanley Yelnats is accused of stealing, and is sent to a tough camp where he has to go through many things. Such as hard work and no water. He learns to take care of himself and to support himself. He blames everything on to his grandfather in the beginning. Later he realizes that anything that happens is because of him and not anyone else.
In the novel Holes there are a few central conflicts, but the main conflict would have to be Stanley going to Camp Green Lake. If he never went to the camp, he would not have to go through the future events. The novel begins when Stanley Yelnats was accused of stealing shoes of Clyde Livingston a very famous ballplayer. In camp he had to go through bad things. He had to dig five feet deep and wide holes everyday. He had to work in the sun without much water. These were all rooted to his arrival at Camp Green Lake.
The main characters in the novel were Stanley Yelnats, Zero, Warden, Elya Yelnats, Kate Barlow, Mr. Sir, Mr.Pendanski, Clyde Livingston, X-ray, and Armpit. The opposing characters out of them were the Warden, Mr. Sir, Mr.Pendanski, and Kate Barlow. The whole novel was on Stanley and later on Zero as his sort of sidekick. X-ray and Armpit were there throughout the story. Elya had his own side story going on in which Kate was the bad guy. The Warden was the main opposing character in the novel with her own two sidekicks Mr. Sir and Mr. Pendanski. Mr.Pendanski does give support to Stanley in the beginning but later stops. Mr. Sir doesn't help any of the guys much and is mostly with the Warden. The Warden does not help in any way and had no respect for any of the guys. She treated them like trash and thought that they were trash. She did not care about the camp and all she wanted was the briefcase. .

The main conflict could have been avoided. If the conflict was avoided he would not have gone to camp.
