While Money was very influential in addressing the issue of how to normalize an intersexed person and his theories have held fast throughout time there have been improvements for these people and how to handle to reality of being intersexed. Intersexuals who have been forced to grapple with accepting their identity along with overcoming the damage that has been done to their bodies have sought each other out and have come together for the sake of their own comfort and in the pursuit of altering the treatment of intersexed people by medical officials. Intersexed people encompass a great of diversity among them and their bodies along with personal accounts of what has been done to them by medical professionals. Intersexed people have created a niche for themselves in society that did not exist before. Their intention is to help raise awareness about whom they are and to tackle the strongly held beliefs of the medical community on how they should be treated. Intersexuality is a very interesting and unique element of what people recognize as gender. Their very existence and the variety amongst them challenges strongly held beliefs about what it means to be a man or a woman and why men and women are the way they are. The plight of the intersexed person is unique yet there are still some parallels between them and the plight of women in general and minorities and their battle with biases within the world of medicine. Organizations such as the Intersex Society of North America (ISNA) are fighting not only for awareness and well being of the intersexed person but also for improvement in the treatment they receive in much the same ways that the Boston Women's Collective has fought for women and minorities awareness and treatment when concerning their overall health. .
