Boston Terrier


            The Boston Terrier, has its own unique mannerisms and characteristic ways. Many of these characteristics are positively lovable, Boston Terriers make wonderful pets. The Boston Terrier is a lively, highly intelligent dog of medium station and compact build. His body should appear short but not chunky. His legs should be well muscled, chest wide and his back short. The head of a Boston Terrier is square, flat on top. The muzzle is short, square, and in proportion to the skull. Eyes are wide apart, large, round and dark in color. The ears are erect and are at near corners of the skull. The tail is small and does not go straight up. The coat of a Boston Terrier is short smooth and fine in texture, with white markings. The squashed face means lots of breathing difficulties, high potential of heatstroke in hot humid conditions. .
             Puppies need to be fed small portions at frequent intervals, since they are growing and their activity level is high. An adult dog, growth slows down and weight must be regulated to prevent obesity and a host of problems. A well balanced diet and regular medical attention from qualified veterinarian are essential in promoting good health for your dog, but so is daily exercise to keep him fit and mentally alert. Getting for your dog toys to play with, keeps them busy. All dogs need to chew so getting them bones is very good for them. Every dog should have a collar and a leash with its name and your address on them.
             Boston terriers very hyperactive and neurotic. They have a multitude of health problems, especially respiratory related. .
             They also make snorting and snuffing sounds. Every dog should have shots. In the first 16 weeks of having a dog it should of had 3 shots already and one for every year after. Your dog should also have a flea bath to stay away from external parasites. A dog should also take monthly pills to keep away internal parasites such as, hookworms, tapeworms and roundworms.
