Lift Slab

LIFT SLAB is a method of building construction in which the reinforced concrete floor and roof slabs of a multistory structure are casted around its columns at floor level using a separating medium between each slab and employing the ground floor as the initial casting form. .
             The Equipment.

             • A lift slab jack consists of hydraulic ram and two horizontal cross members.

             • Two high tensile steel lifting rods are located symmetrically about the jack passing through the cross members and connect the jack to the structure being lifted. These rods are threaded throughout and may be assembled into any length by means of any couplers.

             • The 60 tons capacity jacks are operated by hydraulic oil under pressure supplied from a motorized power unit. .

             • Electrically operated solenoid valves in a hydraulic distributor from which flexible hoses are used to complete a number of ring main supplies control oil flow to the jacks.

             • An electrical control unit monitors the operation of each jack and controls the solenoid valves of the hydraulic distributor.

             • Through the electrical control panel the action of all jacks is asset is completely synchronized and both lifting and lowering cycles can be undertaken under automatic control.

             • Two nuts on each rod are rotated automatically to maintain in contact with the upper and lower crossheads of the jacks ensuring that structure being lifted has complete mechanical support at all times and is never independent upon hydraulic support alone.
             Construction Sequence.

             • Foundation construction follows traditional approach and usually incorporates a pocket for the erection of the pre-cast concrete column that are carefully aligned, plumbed, and grouted into position with the steel collars threaded to them.

             • The slabs are being poured and steel collars are being connected to each slab while casting of concrete.
