Marijuana

Have you ever thought about what it would be like if Marijuana were legal? Marijuana, also known as, herb, Mary Jane, cannabis, hemp, green, etc, is a popular drug in the United States. Since its ban in 1938, the topic of legalizing marijuana has been a controversial issue. Opponents and supporters of the drug have debated for years its importance. Antagonist of marijuana claims the drug is the gateway to other more potent drugs. Advocates of the hemp plant understand the potential of making the herb readily available. Legalizing marijuana would provide numerous benefits to society. Among these benefits are medical advantages compared to other drugs, a reduction in the crime rate, and a boost in the United States economy.
Medically marijuana as a controlled substance would be a more reliable drug than those often prescribed. And the effects are far less than those of legal drugs such as alcohol and tobacco. Marijuana is an herb with hundreds of medical uses. It has been known to help ease glaucoma, reduce stress, and reduce pains associated with cancer. If legalized marijuana could replace some prescription drugs and doctors would prescribe it more often, because it doesn't create a dependency. Also marijuana sold over the counter would provide the same feeling or buzzes of those of alcohol and tobacco, but the side effects would be much less substantial. Alcohol can lead to cirrhosis of the liver, or alcohol poisoning. Tobacco can lead to lung cancer, or heart disease, which both like alcohol can lead to death. Marijuana, on the other hand, can lead to short term memory loss and there is no known report of anybody dying from "smoking weed". Thus when marijuana becomes legal it will prove itself to be more reliable than the current legal drugs. .
In addition to its medical benefits, ending its prohibition on marijuana would stop trafficking of the herb and would lower the rate of violent crimes.
