Memoir

You would think life for be a walk in the park for someone that was born with a silver spoon in their mouth. I wish I could tell you that is my case. I have been blessed with wealth that my father worked very hard to come by. The only problem is that money can't buy everything you need to survive. It especially can not buy health even though many would say the rich get all the advantages in medical research. Granted it does cost lots of money in order to receive health care and to pay for such things as prescriptions or premiums on policies. I wish my life was so cut and dry. Easy to take care of my health with a lump sum of money or what not. Nothing in life is free and my happiness sure has a huge price on it.
It all started when I was 14 and just starting to experience life to the fullest. It was my freshman year in high school. Just after a long Christmas and fall where I played field hockey for my school, It was time for spring break in march. Our lacrosse team was headed down to Florida for a spring lacrosse tournament/workshop camp for high school students. The night before I had been feeling a little sick, but didn't think much of it. When we boarded the plane I knew something was wrong. About an hour into the flight I started to get sharp pains in the side of my stomach right near my rib cage. I tried to drink water and eat crackers but nothing helped at this point. Once we landed in florida it was decided by my coaches that I should fly home as soon as possible. When I got home the next morning at midnight, I was rushed to a hospital and it was then determined that my gallbladder has completely shut down and needed to be removed immediately. The next morning after some preliminary tests it was infact removed in a six hour procedure using lasers. This procedure was called laposcopic surgery and I was the 40th case to every have it done in Pennsylvannia. As a result of the surgery though I gained a new problem; Acid Reflux Disease where it prohibits me eating anything that is remotely fatty or high in protein.
