Military

Computers and Technology in the Military.
The military needs to gain intelligence about enemies of the United States, as well as potential enemies, and even allies. Through the gaining of intelligence, the military can formulate plan to counteract enemy goals and improve effectiveness of their goals. In previous times before the computer age the military used spies to infiltrate enemy lines and discover enemy goals, artillery, and the size of their military. The spy would then communicate back to base what was discovered. Now, during the computer age, computers create a whole new angle to espionage and collecting information on the enemy. Computers can communicate with satellites orbiting the Earth. This is called the Global Positioning System. These satellites can give a panoramic view of any terrain at any time. Manipulating satellites, the military can discover where the enemy is fortified and where heavy artillery is. .
Satellites allow the military to detect nuclear detonation and track missiles. The United States Air Force and Navy especially use satellites for detecting anti-aircraft or missile silos.
