Mother Teresa On Family Values And Abortion

Mother Teresa on Family Values and Abortion.
In February 1994, Mother Teresa gave a very compelling and emotional speech at The National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC, in which she preached about family values and abortion. In the beginning of her oration, Mother Teresa read from the bible about what Jesus wants from people, i.e. love and peace. These themes were clear throughout each argument in her speech, as Mother Teresa spread the message that we must all "love until it hurts.".
The prayer in the beginning of Mother Teresa's speech set a very emotional tone, which was used to persuade the audience into her point of view on various topics. One of her arguments was that a person should love everybody, including enemies, "until it hurts." She believes that Jesus Christ died because of his love for all people. He also wanted to save everyone from selfishness. When he died on the cross, he spread the message that each person should love all people, including enemies. In her speech, Mother Teresa explained that these are the reasons that we should love all people, because of everything that Jesus did for the people. .
Mother Teresa preached the bible in the beginning of her speech to captivate the audience's attention and set an emotional tone. She chose this tactic in order to bring up a very controversial issue, abortion. By persuading the audience to be loving and kind, Mother Teresa opened everyone's hearts to accept her strong feelings on the issue, and maybe even change some people's opinions. .
Mother Teresa made several arguments as to why abortion is wrong. She began her claim by stating that peace and love are achieved through loving a child. When a mother kills her own child she is destroying that peace, and therefore, abortion is the biggest destroyer of peace. In addition, abortion always leads to more abortion. This does not treat people love, but violence. As Mother Teresa said during her speech, "By abortion, the mother does not learn to love, but kills even her own child to solve her problems.
