Some crimes so abhorrent, the convict does not deserve to continue living. We do not live completely in the days of Hammurabi's "eye for an eye," but neither have we come close to a crime-free utopia, which would allow the end of the death penalty. Instead, we compromise, reserving execution for the most serious crimes and filtering the decision through a jury of 12 peers and a presiding judge. .
We can also see the same situation here in the Philippines. The problem here in the Philippines is how to implement death penalty in its full use while making the citizens understand why it is being used. Filipinos should not be nave in accepting death penalty because it can be an effective solution in solving crime problems here in the Philippines.
The Philippine government has promised its people peace and security. For the government to fulfill its' promises, death penalty should be implemented to meet the demands of maximum safety and security. The military or police can't simply kill their fellow Filipinos if they did a crime that is why the existence of these criminals still gives threat to the people. There is still a chance that these criminals could escape and continue terrorizing the citizens. Implementing death penalty can be a symbol of power for the government, which can be used to prove to the citizens that the government is powerful enough to lessen the crimes happening in the country thus fulfilling its' promises to the citizenry.
Through the implementation of death penalty, discipline can be instilled in the citizens of the country. Being disciplined people, heinous crimes will be reduced and it will surely lessen the crime rates. During the times when death penalty was not implemented, crime rates constantly increased showing that the discipline of Filipinos was being ignored. As for now, heinous crimes continuously happen because the government is facing a problem in fully implementing death penalty.
