Surrogacy is a better option than adoption for many couples because changes in society have resulted in a lower number of children available for adoption, most infertile couples would like a newborn baby, and there are a number of benefits to have children who are genetically related to their parents.
             Medical advancements have allowed for creation of more reliable forms of birth control and educators have improved sex education for kids and even adults; thus resulting in a lower number of children being put up for adoption. As stated by COTS, or Childlessness Overcome Through Surrogacy, the number of couples applying for adoption greatly outweigh the number of children available and "for many, surrogacy is the only alternative to childlessness.""
