Morocco

In the Book In and Out of Morocco we are led on a journey into Northern Africa. In Morocco the society has been split in half, the migrants who went to work in Europe and the people who stayed at home. The migrants were usually uneducated men who left there families at home in hopes of making money. But what happens to those who stay home? What happens when cultures begin to evolve and change? How did migration have such a large effect on women and their freedom? Why do men feel that they should pressure their women to stay at home? Does a migrant become a part of a bi-culture? .
Crossing cultural boundaries has a straining effect on society. There becomes a conflict between your old culture and the new culture, forming sort of a bi-culture. For example being born in Middle East and moving to the United States, I deal with many cultural differences. Trying to keep with traditions and learning new traditions can be very difficult. This comes from being a diverse and open minded person. It takes a strong person to have the passion to want to learn about other cultures and religions. However when crossing cultures it can raise questions about your own culture.
