Comparison Of Modern And Past Car Ads

Comparison of modern and past car ads.
Between the year 1953 to the present year of 2003 many things in advertisement has changed and advanced tremendously. Since 1953 the value of the dollar has dropped from very high to extremely low in our day of age. As you will see in the essay the price of a luxuries car in 1953 is much cheaper than an average everyday car of today. I have chosen two advertisement articles on cars, which are an Oldsmobile Rocket from 1953 and a Volvo S60 from 2004. I am going to compare the differences and similarities each ad claims, as well as explain how the advertisement is set up, how they have changed over time and the information the articles give on the car.
The Oldsmobile Rocket in 1953 was a very luxuries automobile for its time. It was only affordable for the upper class citizens at that time, but on the other hand they stress on how affordable it is so they can catch peoples attention. The ad says, Oldsmobile value is top value (To Olds they go). The Rocket is known as a family car, it has plenty of room for everyone. The advertisement states that the starting price for the Oldsmobile Rocket is $2,350.62 plus taxes and delivery fee. The price depends upon choice of model and body style, optional equipment and accessories (To Olds they go). However, the Volvo S60 is completely opposite from the Oldsmobile. The Volvo is a car for everyone, it is affordable for the lower, middle class citizen. It is both a sporty car and a family car depending on what you uses for it are. The ad does not advertise the over all price for the car but it shows you a down payment and a monthly payment needed to perches it. It says, $4,165 due at signing, plus taxes, title and registration fees (The 2004 Volvo S60). It also says, $275 lease per month for 36 months (The 2004 Volvo S60).
The photographs and headings on the two advertisements are very different from one another.
