It is natural in the sense that there is no "purposive system" making the selection. Darwin asserts that the implicit goal of natural selection is maintenance or reproduction of a configuration at some level of abstraction (Darwin 45). Natural selection is caused by variations, which exist within a species due to difference in the genetic make-up of its individual members. In Darwin's theory, the process of natural selection implies that the differences and variations in plants and animals, is spontaneous and random. .
Another important aspect of Darwin's theory is the trial and error process of variation and natural selection. Darwin proposed that variations appear in natural populations and arise purely by chance. He also implies that specific features in organisms are returned or eliminated, by the environment. Although natural selection and variation are important aspects of evolution thoroughly researched by scientists, scientists are not clear as to the precise mechanisms of the evolutionary change (Zimmer 176). Scientists do not have sufficient and appropriate evidence to validate Darwin's theory. Because of this lack of proof, the Genesis Account of Creation seems more credible.
