Taoism

Who is best suited for this assignment.
After reading, "The Tao of Leadership," I am convinced that I am a Taoist manager. There most prominent reason for this conclusion is that I take a minimalist approach to leadership. I firmly practice equal treatment within the very diverse group of security personnel. "The wise leader does not try to protect people from themselves." All rules and regulations are applicable to everyone. This most importantly management. " the leader does not pretend to be special." I strive to be a wise leader. "Like water." The water symbolizes how leaders influence others by showing that there is strength in weakness. Over time, water cuts through the hardest rock very often managers that attempt to solve problems often create new, more complicated problems. As events occur through out the day I attempt to silently think to myself if intervention is necessary. "Do not intrude. Do not control. Do not force your own needs and insights into the foreground." .
It is important to speak in a manner that the employee can clearly understand what you expect. Often time's managers think the larger, more confusing terms they use, the more impressive they are. "Confusing jargon is one sure sign of a leader who does not know how things happen." In management, communication is such an important factor that the jargon sometimes utilized causes confusion and can waste valuable time. .
             .
The hardest yet most significant lesson that I have learned in management is to always vow to be a neutral observer. Who never takes side, this point, which is often overlooked by leaders is mentioned under the Leader's Integrity Parable. Prior to taking a management role, I was under the false pretense that managers must solve all conflicts by taking a side and presenting evidence against the employee who is thought to be wrong.
