The Nutty Professor

In the movie The Nutty Professor, there is a scene where the family is sitting down at the dinner table. The father sits at the end of the table. This shows that he is the hierarchy or head of the household. His wife sits to the left next to him. This shows how close the relationship is. This also shows that she is his wife. They had three children together and the baby of the three sits to the left next to the mother. This shows that the mother is the one who takes care of all the children. To the left of the baby at the opposite end of the table across from the father sit's the grandmother. This is the mothers, mother. She sits at the opposite end of the table away from the father because the father and grandmother don't like each other. To the left of the grandmother is the middle child. He doesn't sit next to the father because he is not the oldest of the three children. To the left of him is the oldest of the three children. He sits there because he is the oldest of the three children. This is your typical American family setup at the dinner table. .

This setup obviously shows who the hierarchy in the household is. It also shows how the majority of American men don't like their wife's mother. This scene also shows how the American diet is and how obese the American society is. This also shows how American people try to loose weight and how some just don't care to loose it. This is shown by all the unhealthy food on the table. Such as the fried chicken. This family must have about thirty pounds of fried chicken on the table for the six of them. 99% of this family eats as much as they can, but the oldest son only has one piece of chicken on his plate and he takes off the fried skin to help himself to drop a few pounds. The father tries to tell him that being obese is a beautiful thing, but not all Americans feel the same way. This scene from the movie is very constant with my experiences of American family life.
