This study analyzes the meek representation of black males in careers relating to computer science, mathematics, and the natural sciences (biology, chemistry, physics). To come to the conclusion that this statement is true, the researcher cited six fairly new books relating to several aspect of the black way of life. The researcher also visited several websites in order to obtain up to date facts and statistics foretelling the current status of not only black males, but the entire African American ethnic group. Unfortunately, the researcher could not find enough info to keep the analysis solely on the state of black male for the entire analysis. Consequently, this study has been broadened to observe black males as well as the African American race. The researchers results conclude that the absence of blacks in careers relating to science can be directly accredited to the three most influential aspects of a young child's life; adolescent experiences, pre-college schooling, and higher education. With regards to black Americans, there are certain events that occur during these periods that often hinder the desire or ability to want to succeed in a scientific field, or any professional field for that matter.

The Diseducation of the Negro.
There is indeed a low representation of black males in careers relating to science. According to the 1990 census taken by the United States Census Bureau (USCB), out of the 9,666 biological and life scientists residing in 55 select cities across America at that time, only 159 of them were black males. Black males represented approximately 1.64% of the entire population of biological and life scientists in these select cities. In these same 55 cities, there reside 83,467 computer analysts and scientists. Out of these 83,467 computer specialists, 2,637 are black males. That equates to approximately 3.15%. These accurate facts in no way reflect the number of black males that live in the Unites States of America, which in the 1990's, has ranged from 6 to 9 percent of the total population.
