George Washington - Great Military Strategist

This great American country that we know and love today was not always the world super power that people understand the United States to be currently. There was a multitude of events throughout American history that lead to the development of the prowess that our country shows off in multiple facets. Our country had to go many extensive wars, whether external or internal. Before all this though we had to break off from the national super power Great Britain dating back to the 18th century. It was through them that the development of the first thirteen colonies arose. Long story short friction between the two arose quickly and the colonies felt the need separate themselves and declare independence. Unfortunately for the colonies Great Britain refused to let them go so easily which resulted in what is now known as the Revolutionary War. Up against arguably the most elite militia and navy forces of its time the colonies were in need a leader that the colonist could rally around. The colonist turned to easily one of the most recognizable figures in American history, the first great colonial military strategist himself, George Washington. .
Before George Washington became known as the great military leader and strategist he certainly suffered from his share of struggles. Washington pre-revolutionary war served in the French & Indian War, also known as the Seven Years War. While in command of his first Virginia militia unit, he did suffer his first loss but to be fair his unit was vastly outnumbered. He was appointed second in command, ranking as a lieutenant colonel. Although Washington did lead a small Virginian force with the assistance of the Iroquois warriors towards modern day Pittsburg with a warning message for the French. On his way over there Washington and his troops ran into a small French scouting force. The aftermath of the encounter was the death of a dozen Frenchmen and capturing of 20 more.
