Depression and the Natural Treatment Paradigm

"Depression affects all people regardless of age, geographic location, demographic, or social position." Depression is like a massive black hole – a portion in space having a density and gravitational force so extraordinary that if we are being absorbed in its swirling vortex, we can never seem to evade it. We have all had times wherein we get drawn into this downward spiral of depression. What we need is something that can hoist us out of the infinite vortex that we are in. Fortunately, there are various natural treatments for depression, such as exercising, challenging negative thoughts, and taking on responsibility. By simply switching the way we perceive or do things, we can neutralize the destructive effects imposed by depression.
Although depression is considered a mental disease, physical activities may help us relieve or ease depression. When we exercise, our brain releases feel-good chemicals such as endorphins, neurotransmitters, and endocannabinoids. By exercising, we can also decrease immune system chemicals that deteriorate depression. In terms of psychological benefits, we can gain confidence through exercising, especially if we accomplish certain exercise goals. We can also take our minds off of worries since exercising is a form of diversion that can help keep us away from the vicious cycle of over-thinking. Exercising is also a healthy coping strategy and it would be a better substitute for antidepressants since these drugs can upset the processes within the brain.
When we are depressed, we habitually engage in negative thinking. We are caught in this perilous pattern wherein depression causes us to think negatively, and thinking negatively makes our depression even more immense. Our brain is wired to make negative thinking a natural tendency, and if it would be triggered, our brain would unleash a cascade of racing negative thoughts and emotions. Removing this pattern from our system is no walk in the park.
