Honor Students


            An Honors student is motivated to learn. The student possesses a desire to excel as a learner and achieve goals. Three ways that an Honors student is defined includes having a GPA of 3.5+ in core courses, skilled writing abilities, and are currently in the top 15% of their class.
             The grade point average is a very important part of the school career. Grade point average is the average of a student's grades over a fixed period of time. Most schools use the scale of 1-4 with one being the lowest (F) and four being the highest (A). There are some exceptions for Honors and AP courses. These are scaled on 1-5 and 1-6. The grade point average must be high in order to get into and Honors class, because students have to be able to handle more pressure and work. GPA is also considered when applying for colleges and jobs.
             The ability to write well and efficient is very handy. Honors students should be able to write on the spot and very well. They should have the ability and will to write very extensive essays with much thought. Honors student's ideas can be expressed in a many ways some include essays, poems, novels, short stories, etc. When applying for a job the ability to write well in a major deciding factor in determining whether or not you are qualified for the job.
             Being in the top fifteen percent of your class means that you have the skills it takes to be successful in life and that you take the time to study and work hard to get the job done. Many students who are in there top 15% of their class are also considered to be Honors students. In order to be in the top 15% you must have a very high grade point average and work very diligently and effective.
             Being motivated and having these three things: GPA of 3.5+, skilled writing abilities, and are currently in the top 15% of their class considers you to be an Honor student. To be an honor student you must be able to work hard, study, and be able to handle the pressure!.
