Interpretation of The Bad Days Blues

INTERPRETATION OF "THE BAD DAYS BLUES".
When I sat down to write "The Bad Days Blues," I literally wrote exactly what was on my heart and mind at that very moment. It wasn't difficult at all since the lyrics are direct expressions of how I feel and/or have felt at some time or another. And although I am a little hesitant to express a part of my inner feelings on a class assignment, I figured that this might be a good opportunity for me to finally let out some suppressed emotions. Regardless of what it does for someone else, it feels good to me, which is what singing the blues is all about.
The first stanza of "The Bad Days Blues" starts off pretty self-explanatory. There was a time when I was experiencing what I thought was love, which it may have been for a 17 year old. But looking back from 21 years of age, I don't think it was. The girl I was crazy about dropped me like a bad habit for one reason or another. And even though I was hurt, the pain didn't compare to the loneliness I endure sometimes because, since Keisha, I haven't found a new girl (Nicole). Then again, maybe if I had never met Keisha, I wouldn't be searching for a Nicole But I did.
In the second stanza, I am expressing the bad days and experiences I have gone through with my parents. The line "My momma said she don't know me," states the conclusion of many arguments we have had over the years. And it seems like the more she goes through her "disowning me" stage, the further away our personal relationship becomes. Then, the fact that my dad is remarried with a son now, puts a strain our relationship as well. Especially since he has blatantly told that he will not be as accessible to me as he used to be. Although I know that he and my mother love me unconditionally, sometimes I avoid long visits because the outcome usually results in tension. Thus, influencing me to write the line " And when I take the time to see them, I say hello, then run.
