Tuesday of this week my english teacher, Mr. Bynum told the class to write a story about a spot on campus or somewhere that is pretty active. I chose my home in Sumner Mississippi. Sumner is a small little delta town full of old people. I went outside to take a look at my scenery, and right away an old couple walked by as they often do on their daily afternoon walks. I live on a block full of houses and things do become active quit frequently. It sometimes can become annoying. A few minutes after the old couple passed, Mrs. Bright came flying by in her Tercel, as she usually does. The way she drives can be very dangerous for all the children that live on our street. Across the street is an old oak tree that almost always has hundreds of birds in it cherping and squeaking. He sits with me as I try to look for more things that are going on. A little while later Colby, a little boy, comes by riding his bicycle with his little puppy dog following behind him. His grandmother does not seem to care where he I because I always see him all over town riding his bike. He wavs at me and I wave back. Sumner is a place where everybody knows everybody and almost all of their business. Sumner is a very pretty town that usually atays clean and has beautiful antebellum churches. It has a local drugstore that serves ice cream and candy. People have told me that Sumner reminds them of Mayberry, that can be a good or bad thing, depending on which way you look at it.
