Night Out

Anyone who says they don't when they .
automatically think "hoodlum" when they see a teenager wearing baggy clothing .
and listening to rock music is lying. I do that myself. People don't do it on .
purpose, though, I think it has become more or less a second nature. Due to my facial piercings and my style of dress, not a day goes by that I do not get a dirty look. I simply pretend not to notice their disapproving glances, but in my heart I know that they are there. One of my most memorable experiences happens to focus around the fact that things are not always what they seem.
I was at a party in Scranton about 3 months ago. It was a rave party, one of those underground get togethers that people associate with loud electronic music and hundreds of drug-induced teenagers. While at this party, I was wearing the usual obscenely baggy jeans, baggy sweatshirt, and my hair spiked straight up this way and that. At one point during the night I needed to use the bathroom, but to get to it, I had to walk past a barricade of cops eyeing each person who walked by. Figuring I had nothing to worry about, I walked right through and looked everyone in the eye, including the cops, thinking that eye contact would let them know that I had nothing to hide. .
In the bathroom I surprisingly found my best friend who obviously had forgotten what her limit was. She was dressed well though, and looked like your average college student. She had a Penn State t-shirt on and jeans that fit snuggly, her blond hair stopping at her shoulders. Her make up had begun to run and she smelled very strongly of alcohol but still looked like your average girl. She said she needed help walking out because she had done a little too much of something she shouldn't have and wanted to be sure that she could walk straight. The minute we walked out I spotted her boyfriend who had this look on his face as if he had seen a ghost. What he had infact seen was a couple of police officers headed my way.
