Child Care

I have been teaching in my classroom for a little over a week now and I have come to the conclusion that my classroom isn't what it should be, and isn't a very effective classroom for learning.
My classroom is set up with seven different centers. Although only three of my centers can be used properly and have the proper requirements and materials for that center. For example my reading center, includes two shelves for storing books, several bean bag chairs, and a round table for children to read. This center has also been isolated from other centers that produce noise, just as it should be. The other center in my classroom that can be used effectively is my math and manipulative center. This center also contains two shelves for storing materials and a round table. These are the items needed for this center. Along with these two centers my music/circle time center is also a center that can be effectively used because all that is needed to complete this center was a large area and a shelf. Although these three centers have been equipped with the materials needed all of my centers have not been. .
For example, my block building center is an area where a lot of noise is made, but the fact that this area is not carpeted and does not have an area rug does not help the noise level in my class room. This area contains shelves for storing blocks and a large enough area for the children to play but to complete this center an area rug is needed. .
One of the biggest problems in my classroom is the fact that there is not a sink in my science and art center. With there not being a sink in this center it takes a lot of time for clean up, and we are limited to the activities that we can do because we do not have access to water. Placing a sink in this area would increase the amount of time we have to spend on activities, and decrease the amount of time we have to spend on cleaning up. This would also decrease the number of students in the bathrooms washing their hands.
