Elephants are also brave

(No name, no age, her gender is the single one defender.

She is so fine, so delicate, so tender around with her lying cruel contender.

No trace of thought, well what can you expect from the weaker gender.)

The girl in the story “Hills like white Elephants”, by Ernest Hemingway in the beginning seems to be very immature, almost an airhead, unconfident; a character without any character. She always depended on the American man she was with, who seems to make all the decisions for her. She basically eat out of his hand. For example, she says: “What should we drink? And once they take it away, you never get it back.” This shows that the girl decided to keep the child. She is now referring not only to her self and the man, but also their child. During their conversation the girl also stands up in the middle of it and walks away to the train station, for once showing her independence from the American man. The girl indicates that she can survive on her own without the man’s help. She makes another big decision in letting go of the American man. “I realize, the girl said. Can’t we maybe stop talking?” Here she is not only showing independence, but also being a little rude. She simply interrupted the conversation, obvious indi
