Hindu Philosophy In ever day life
Shreemad Bhagvad Gita popularly known as Gita I believe is the holy book of not only hindus but the entire humanity. When I started writing this editorial I knew I was risking the wrath of a lot of people.I knew I would have to tread a very fine line and I would set a lot of tongues wagging and many would brand me as a hindu fundamentalist.I know I am none of that.I merely want to put the record staright. When I talk about Gita I do not mean disrespect to other religions or their holy books.I believe they command the same respect as Hindu Philosophy respects Gita.I am a hindu in the broadest sense of the word and my credentials permit me to write what i believe is the best for hindus. Why Gita and nothing else would do? If you look at the facts carefully Vedas and Upanishads came five thousand or more years before Gita. They are accepted as the norms of the hindu philosophy. They form the very foundation of hindu religion in its broadest sense. If Gita is conservatively estimated to be 5000 years old,Vedas and Upanishads are more than 10000 years old.And yet I say Gita is the standard bearer of Hindu Philosophy.Let us examine the facts. There are no two opinions about the fact that Hindu Philosophy is the
The more important reason is that it is sung by the Supreme Power. It is popularly believed that Lord Krishna sang Gita in the verse form to Arjuna on the battlefield. If any of you have been reading Gita regularly they will find that the name of Lord Krishna does not appear anywhere in Gita.It is always 'Shree Bhagawanuwach' (God speaks). When Lord Krishna started to recite Gita to Arjuna He ceased to become Krishna. He became Yogeshwar (the Supreme Power). Many of you might question what is the difference between the Supreme Power and Lord Krishna? Lord Krishna was avatar (God reincarnate) while Yogeshwar was God Himself. That is the vital difference. At no point in Gita is Krishna mentioned by name. When God decides to reveal Himself in full glory to Arjuna the word used is Yogeshwar. After the battle of Kurukshetra was over one day Arjuna asked Lord Krishna to sing Gita again and reveal His full form. Lord Krishna replied 'I did not sing Gita.It was Yogeshwar who sang it. It is not possible for me to sing Gita again however dear you are to me.' Gita is perhaps the only holy book that has not been edited (not even a word) since it was sung by Lord Krishna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. It is the same it was 5000 years ago. Many holy books had to be altered to suit the modern scientific era.In fact the constitutions of the modern day countries are amended and rewritten at regular intervals. That only means Gita has stood the test of time.Gita is as valid today as it was 5000 years ago and will continue to remain valid until the end of humanity. Gita is like a lamp.If you want to cross a dark forest at night what do you need? A lamp would do.It throws light for about 15 or 20 feet.As soon as you have walked those 20 feet the light would take you further 20 feet. And that is how you cross a deep and dark forest.Gi
