Japanese high school teachers should make their classes interesting and make their students interested in the studies. But, in my high school, high school teachers does not encourage students to get curiosity about studies, such as English, Classical Japanese, History, etc. Of course, there were some interesting studies, but especially the three classes were boring.
Firstly, high school English classes don't encourage students to get curiosity. We cannot improve our communicative English skills, because teachers cannot speak English with good pronunciation. For example, teachers have a bad Japanese accent, or they don't try to collect it. Other problem is teachers tend to focus only examinations. In this situation, we can get knowledge but we can't learn. Therefore, teachers should not focus on only examination but also focus on how we can use English in our life.
Secondly, high school Classical Japanese classes don't encourage students to get curiosity. The class activities are just to translate Classical Japanese to current Japanese. And the story written in Classical Japanese is ignored, because teachers put an effort on examinations. Accordingly, I couldn't have curiosity about Classical Japanese. Therefore, teachers should not focus on only translation, but also the meanings of stories which is written in Classical Japanese.
Finally, most of Social study, especially History, teachers tend to be "typical teaching machines". "Typical teaching machines" means the person who tells students almost same as what the text says repeatedly and who doesn't ask students some questions which enliven the class. The requirements of the classes are memorization of historical events such as "794, the Heian period start", "1492, Collombus discovered America",or "1945, WWII finished". Teachers should teach students not only events but also the back grounds of history.
