how to gain muscles

What is weight training? When people think of weight training, they usually think of big bulky men that work- out at the gym for six to eight hours a day- that is only partially true. James Hesson, author of Weight Training for Life, defines weight training as adding resistance to the body's natural movements in order to make those movements more difficult, and encourage the muscles to become stronger (13).

Weight training has many benefits to ones body and health. By lifting weights one can significantly improve their body structure. For example, many people who want to loose weight exercise with weights in order to turn the fat into muscle. By improving their body structure, they also feel more confident and better about themselves. Athletes train with weights in order to improve speed, endurance, and strength. It was thought before that muscles would slow an athlete down, but over the years research has shown that it does quite the opposite. A stronger muscle works better and faster when running long endurance races and helps the athlete to not get tired too easy. Apart from athletes and people who want to loose weight, many people exercise with weights for many different reasons.

Many men exercise with weights for a particu

Rest is vital to growing muscles. Rest will allow muscles to not get fatigued. In order to prevent muscles to get fatigued, one should remember to not workout the same muscle groups every single day (Hesson 13). The only muscles that could be worked out everyday are the triceps, calves, and abdominal muscles. The reason for this is because these muscles are very hard to develop and training them everyday would not get them fatigued. It is important to know that muscles will not grow when one is exercising because the only way they grow is by resting. In many cases, if muscles are not rested enough, it could result in muscle loss. Another reason why it is important to rest is because, weight lifting tears the muscle tissue down and by resting, the muscles will begin to be restored. Muscles can only be restored when one takes the proper nutrition diet because it provides the necessary fuel and material for repair during sleeping (Bissaillion 4). For people who have a high metabolism rate, it is important for them reduce the amounts of activities and rest more, because by resting one will not burn as many calories.

Before even stepping one single foot in a gym, one should check with their doctor to make sure that a workout program will not be hazardous to one’s health. After consulting with the doctor, there is one more step before working-out, which is wearing comfortable clothing. Comfortable clothing should be clothing that one is relaxed in and is able to perform the full range of motion of the exercise (Hesson 21). A few great examples of comfortable clothing would be: sweats, shorts, tank-tops, t-shirts, and tennis shoes. After consulting a doctor and selecting out comfortable clothes one should first begin their workout by stretching. When stretching, one is letting the muscles to get prepared for action and allows the flow of blood to the muscles. One should stretch each muscle for ten to twenty seconds. After stretching, one now is ready to begin the process to look better, be stronger, and be healthier- that is working out!

Apart from just working out, a healthy diet is a must! According to personal trainer Bryn Lowry, a staff member at 24- Hour Fitness Gym, one cannot just get a muscular body by exercising because the body needs the proper nutrients to grow. The time at the gym will be a waste if one eats foods that are unhealthy. In order to achieve that muscular body, one will need to intake a lot of high quality proteins (Bissaillion 2). Without an adequate supply of protein, the body will not be able to support any kind of muscle growth. Muscles also need the proteins because it helps them maintain form, and as long as one remembers to intake a lot of proteins, the better off one is. A few great examples of protein are: chicken breast, egg whites, turkey breasts, and milk. In addition to the protein
