Music has always been a part of every culture, big or small. It has been there from the beginning of time. It has become a part of people, and who they are. Some music represents people, and other music expresses people. Either way, music is around and keeps on growing. Growing to new ideas and feelings that capture its listeners.
I've noticed that my generation judges and categorizes its peers by the music that they listen to. With all the different types of music today it’s kind of hard not to judge people based on the music they listen to. Even parents look at their kids a certain way if they don’t approve on what is going into their CD players at home. They seem to think that the kids are dressing a certain way or talking a certain way because the music is sending the wrong messages.
One kind of music that parents don't mind their kids listening is ska. Ska has always been a fun expressive and non-violent type of music. "Happy circus music" is one name that I've he
ard it being called. It's the local bands that kids get together in small clubs to hang out and watch. It's usually a nice and friendly atmosphere. Everyone says hello to the person who's dancing next to him or her. It's a place where you can meet people and not get judged right off the bat. It's an easy going show that kids can go to and stay out of trouble. Many of the kids at these shows are "sXe - straightedge". That means that the person is against drinking, smoking, and doing drugs. Just with that said you could tell why the kids have their parent’s approval to listen to this type of music.
After all the different types of music I just explained, I bet there was one group that you fit in to. A lot of people say that it is wrong to judge somebody by the music they listen to and I guess I would have to agree with them. Just because a song talks about hate doesn’t mean that everyone who listens to it is hateful. In my opinion I think that goes for everything. No one in the world is made the s
