Destiny Theme In Forrest Gump
The movie Forrest Gump demonstrates the idea of destiny through speech and actions of characters. Three different interpretations of destiny are revealed by three different people. The movie does a good job of using entertainment to appeal to the viewer and incorporate a hidden meaning at the same time. First, Lt. Dan explains his view on what destiny is. Lt. Dan states, “We all have a destiny. Nothing just happens. We all have a plan.” This means that every person is set to a particular plan for life when he is born. Dan’s theory of destiny is the people are given a plan in life when they are born into the world. Next, Forrest’s mother states her opinion on the idea of destiny. She says, “I believe we make our own destiny.

Forrest represents his mother’s version of destiny. He makes his own outline o
