... as he changes into an evil and heartless tyrant. Macbeth is also referred to as wicked by the witches. In the witches' lair, they are preparing a brew when one of them says, "Something wicked this way comes" (IV.i.45). Here, the witch is saying that something wicked is coming their way. The witch knows that the person approaching them is Macbeth, and therefore is calling him ... wicked. This situation is ironic because the reason Macbeth did all these wicked deeds because of the prophecy given to him by the witches, but ... now they call him wicked. Even the supposedly wicked character...
