Just because you "look bad" wear torn-up leather jackets, slouch around with toothpicks in your mouth; sniff glue, ether and what somebody claimed was cocaine, doesn't actually make you a bad character. This means you are just ... but these supposed bad boys stalled until those guys pulled up beside them and sacred them away. The narrator describes himself and his friends as "panting, Wheezing, tearing at her clothes, grabbing for flesh we were bad characters, and were scared and hot and three steps over the line"(132) The narrator in that quote itself just proved to the reader ... ...
